Ballet Etudes' The Nutcracker
Ballet Etudes Company is proud to have the longest-running Nutcracker tradition in South Florida. 2011 marks its 37th consecutive year of bringing this holiday classic to South Florida families. Over the years, Ballet Etudes' The Nutcracker has also brought international guest artists to South Florida to star in the production while also giving students from Ballet Etudes School the opportunity to perform in a professional ballet production. With lavish sets and costumes, as well as a cast of 100 dancers, Ballet Etudes' The Nutcracker has been widely acclaimed throughout the community. Performed in the past at such venues as the historic Jackie Gleason Theater and Miami-Dade County Auditorium, Ballet Etudes' The Nutcracker was held for the first time at Miramar Cultural Center in December 2009 and at the Colony Theater for the first time in December 2011. Sunday Afternoon at the Ballet Series
In 2007, Ballet Etudes Company instituted the Sunday Afternoon at the Ballet series to make the ballet classics more accessible to the local South Florida community. Now in its fourth year, the series has brought such classics as Paquita, Grand Pas de Quatre, Graduation Ball as well as excerpts from Coppélia and El Cid to the city of Hialeah, the home of Ballet Etudes Company for over 35 years. Thus, with the support of the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council and The Children's Trust, Ballet Etudes is making the enjoyment of classical ballet more attainable and feasible to the community who has served it so well for so many years.
The latest installment of Sunday Afternoon at the Ballet took place on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Hialeah Performing Arts Theater and featured the debut of Anne of a Thousand Days, an original ballet by Choreographer Peter a Fox, and Atlantide: An Underwater Adventure, re-staged by Artistic Director Susana Prieto.
The Sunday Afternoon at the Ballet is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
