Ballet Etudes of South Florida’s first performance of the 2012 Season, Ballet on South Beach, features a delightful mix of classical repertoire and original choreography. This one-time only performance will take place on Sunday, March 18th at 5:00pm at the historic Colony Theater on South Beach! The mixed-bill format includes four distinct and thoroughly enjoyable ballets.

“Anne of a Thousand Days” is an original ballet by Choreographer Peter La Fox created specifically for Ballet Etudes’ prima ballerina, Dagmar Moradillos, who will dance the title role of Anne Boleyn. Partnering her as King Henry will be Aureo Andino, Guest Artist from Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico. Marena Perez and Laura Spanioli will dance the roles of Henry’s other wives, Catherine of Aragon and Jane Seymour, respectively. The ballet follows the story of the doomed Queen of England from the time she meets the King until her untimely death at the gallows.

“Graduation Ball” is a light-hearted, comical ballet about the mischief that ensues when an all-male military school visits an all-female boarding school for the titular Graduation Ball. The ballet will feature Jose Rodriguez, Odemar Ocasio, and Dagmar Moradillos, Guest Artists from Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico, as well as soloists from Ballet Etudes, Patricia Tumelty and Melinda Gonzalez.

Rounding out the performance will be the delightful and quirky pas de deux “Munecos” performed by Marena Perez and Odemar Ocasio, as well as “Alone Again,” another original choreography by Peter La Fox that will be performed by Guest Artist Sanford Placide from the French Academie of Ballet.

Ballet Etudes production is under the direction of Artistic Director Susana Prieto Elden with assistance from Production Coordinator Peter La Fox and Ballet Mistress Dagmar Moradillos.

Ticket prices for Ballet on South Beach at the Colony Theater are $35. These tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the Colony Theater Box Office (305-674-1040).
